Join Atoosa Benji, a Licensed Midwife and experienced DONA Birth Doula Trainer, for a comprehensive 24-hour Birth Doula Workshop designed to provide you with the essential skills, knowledge, and confidence to support birthing families through one of life’s most transformative experiences.
This workshop is one step of the pathway to DONA certification and includes a 16-hour Birth Doula Training and an 8-hour Childbirth Education for Doulas class woven into it, giving you the tools to support parents through the emotional, physical, and educational aspects of labor and birth. The training can be taken virtually or in-person, offering flexibility to fit your schedule and preferences.
Workshop Includes:
16-Hour Birth Doula Training: Learn the core skills required to support birthing individuals before, during, and after labor. The training covers topics such as the history of birth in the US, the history of the doula profession, birth inequity and barriers to care, stages and phases of labor, comfort techniques, emotional support, medical interventions, and how to provide continuous, compassionate care for the birthing person, starting doula business, guiding through the postpartum period.
8-Hour Childbirth Education for Doulas: Gain a deeper understanding of childbirth education, including how to educate families on the physiological process of birth, pain management options, and what to expect in each stage of labor. You’ll learn how to guide and support clients as they prepare mentally and emotionally for birth.
Additionally, following the workshop, you will participate in a 3-hour Breastfeeding Basics Class via Zoom. This class covers the fundamentals of breastfeeding, providing you with the knowledge to support new parents as they begin their breastfeeding journey. The session includes:
Breastfeeding Basics: Understanding the anatomy and physiology of breastfeeding, proper latch techniques, overcoming common challenges, and strategies to support successful breastfeeding.
